School Bus

The past few days, i've been the school bus. i gotta tell ya, i'm really enjoying the time i get to spend with my little girl every morning. see, we were going to let her bus to her new school, until we learned that she (a five year old) would need to ride the high school bus to our local public school, then figure out how to transfer to the private school bus... not my five year old!!! so, it's convenient that new school is about 4.5 minutes from my office, so most days i can drop her off and still be in by 8. some days, i'm sure i won't be able to, but most days... and i, as a daddy who sometimes carries a lot of guilt for working too hard and not spending enough time with the family, will cherish that 20 minute ride for as many times as i can do it!!!

on another note, my lovely wife and i are trying to get healthy. this means dieting. we are trying (and successfully sticking to so far) the south beach approach. this is week one of two "carbless weeks". i never knew that the body could go through full out Carb withdrawal, but i was feeling it bad yesterday morning. i've been badly addicted to caffine, and know the symptoms of breaking that habit, but didn't think i'd get them from breaking out of the rutt of eating carbo-loaded food. now coming out the other end of the "withdrawal" period, so i'm thinking we'll make it. so far the scale says i've already dropped a few lbs, but i'm in it for more than a few. oh, and i went to the dentist yesterday. so no carbs, no yummy snacks, and a visit to the dentist. heck of a day.
